My name is Lisa Chickos and I am a massage therapist located in Durham, NC. I help people who are feeling overwhelmed by the amount of stress in their lives start to learn new ways to respond to life's challenges. Stress can show up as physical symptoms like muscle fatigue, headaches, sleeplessness, high blood pressure or cholesterol, and gastrointestinal issues; or as emotional symptoms like anxiety, depression, irritability and general burnout. Through massage therapy I help people tap into their bodies’ natural healing abilities to overcome these symptoms and to balance and normalize the bodies’ systems.

Many clients come to me looking for, and finding, relief from specific aches and pains but come away with a newfound understanding and appreciation of the body's self-healing and self-regulating capabilities. When we support the body through massage, we trigger the "relaxation response" which sets in motion the biological processes needed to restore our physical and mental resources - heart rate and blood pressure decrease, tense muscles release, digestive function improves, the mind settles, and energy reserves are replenished.
