What to Expect

At or before your first appointment you will fill out a health history and consent form. It is important that you provide a thorough health history because there are certain conditions for which massage is contraindicated. We will discuss your goals for the session and develop a safe, customized plan to meet your needs. During the session, please feel free to voice your needs as they arise, whether it is for more or less pressure, different draping, extra blankets or to stop the session completely. I may ask for your feedback so that I may adjust accordingly.

Clothing/Draping

Clients may remove as much or as little clothing as they are comfortable with for their session, keeping in mind that the most effective work is usually done through the fewest layers of clothing. Clients are draped with a sheet and blanket during the entire session. Only the area being worked on is exposed. For work to the gluteal, chest and abdominal regions, draping may be rearranged to allow greater accessibility. Modesty is maintained at all times.

Odor Neutrality

Many people (both clients and therapist) are sensitive or allergic to heavy scents. The human sense of smell is powerful, and many scents linger on clothing or in the air long after the scent has been initially applied. Please refrain from using heavily scented perfumes, colognes, body lotions, deodorants, etc. when coming for a massage session.

Cell Phones/Devices

Cell phones and other devices are to be silenced. Ringing and/or vibrating cell phones, pagers, text notifications, etc. are extremely disruptive to the energy of a session. Please allow yourself to be “unplugged” while you are here.

Ethics and Respect

Massage is therapeutic in nature. Sexual conduct will not be tolerated. If at any time before, during or after a session a client behaves or speaks in a sexual manner the session will be stopped if in progress, payment in full is expected and the client will not be allowed future appointments.
